Mother Blessing

Gather your nearest and dearest soul sisters and let’s honour that special blooming mama in your life!

Mother’s Blessings are an opportunity for the Mother, her friends, family and loved ones to truly acknowledge the monumental rite of passage that she is moving through.

Creating a sacred space and entering ceremony offers full respect to this monumental transition as she moves closer to the birth portal and towards her new identity as mother has a deep ripple effect.

Both Mother and Baby receive the beautiful energy of love and commitment from their loved ones, but also it brings together the village, or community that they will lean on and receive support from in the early months and years. When a mother is centred in this way, we are all inspired to offer deep gratitude for life and what she will bring to her new role within her family and community. This has the capacity to bring healing and awareness to our own relationships with our Mothers and mother figures in our life.

They can take place at any point during the pregnancy, however I would recommend at some point in the 3rd trimester and before 36 weeks. This is to honour the time that mama will begin to turn inwards to prepare herself for her birth.

I would urge all pregnant women to consider a Mother Blessing in addition or instead of a traditional baby shower, which can often be centred around the baby, gender reveal, gifts etc. There is (of course!) - nothing wrong with celebrating the close arrival of the baby and receiving practical items ahead of time, but Mother Blessings give the opportunity for deep reflection and integration of the pregnancy journey and provide the mother with the heart and soul nourishing, spiritual sustenance that will guide her through.

I would be deeply honoured to create a Mother’s Blessing for you. I am available for blessings in London, Kent & Surrey, but will also take requests for further afield with expenses covered.

How it works:

Mother’s Blessings are a co-creation between the host (this could be a trusted friend or the Mother herself) and myself as the ceremonial space holder.

We will chat about your overall vision for the day and any ideas you have that you’d like to include. This is for me to get a feel for the qualities of the Mother being celebrated and what would work for the group as a whole - each Mother is so unique and no one blessing will be the same.

I am happy to share some ideas with you about what I feel would work well and equally am happy to have full intuitive and creative licence in creating a memorable and special event for you.

What does the Ceremony Involve?

There are some core elements that make up the bones of the ceremony.

I will begin with arriving earlier than your guests so they can create an environment that is warm and welcoming, setting out flowers, candles, lighting incense, preparing the cacao and nibbles.

  • Creating sacred space

  • Opening Circle

  • Intention setting with group mandala / altar creation

  • Cacao Ceremony with meditation journey

  • Group Blessing - share stories, readings, wisdom, well wishes, gifts

  • Fear Release Ritual

  • Mama Honouring (could be with music, song, massage)

  • Create a craft together - birthing beads, power candle, mother

  • Closing the circle

  • Feasting

Example Flow

  • 12pm - Prepare space with host (recommend a friend of the Mother)

  • 12.30pm - Arrivals

  • 1pm - 3pm - Ceremony & Crafting

  • 3pm - 4pm - Feast

I would allow 3-4 hours for the ‘ceremony’ where I will be present to support the day, but would recommend you having space before and after for relaxed connection time.

For the feast - this is up to you to think about what would suit your group -  but I would recommend either: 1) a pot-luck style lunch where everyone brings a prepared dish that can be warmed/served easily as soon as we finish 2) something that can be prepared ahead of time or by someone else 3) something that can be delivered and arrive close to the end of the ceremony.
